What's new for Fall 2009

We are excited about improvements planned for your God's World News products in 2009-2010.
Some of the features you'll find beginning this fall are:
  • Extra pages—We heard from many readers who liked the online bonus issue presented during the Christmas break. They liked it so much that they complained—that is to say, they complained that it wasn't in print! This year, we'll put those bonus pages into print—in two parts. We'll add 16 pages to both the November and April issues so that you’ll have extra material leading into your Christmas break and extra pages to use during the last few weeks of the school year.
  • Quiz answers—Quizzes generated a lot of suggestions. We are responding by putting the quizzes into the print magazines. Quiz sections will help test comprehension on feature stories each month. We want kids to learn to be trustworthy and not peek at answers. But we hear you when you say, "Hide the answers!" Next year, all of the quiz, vocabulary, and Puzzling Times answers will be on a small perforated card that you can easily tear out of the magazine. The answers will also be available online.
  • Weekly Social Studies lesson—Part of the value of your subscription is in our website. Next year, subscribers will have access to a weekly Social Studies lesson. Each three-page file will feature a biography, teaching suggestions, an activity or puzzle, and a short quiz. A list of 30 lessons will be available before school begins. These digital files will be presented in a black-and-white format that will go easy on your printer.
  • Bible Bee—Sponsored by the Shelby Kennedy Foundation, the very first National Bible Bee Competition will be held November 5-6, 2009 in Washington, D.C. Local contests will be held in communities nationwide on September 12, 2009. The top 100 finalists from each age group (Primary, ages 7-10; Junior, ages 11-14; and Senior, ages 15-18) will advance to the national contest.

The Bible Bee Web page states, "We want strongly to emphasize our over-arching goal—to reach children and youth with the truth of God's word." This is also the goal of God's World News. That is why we will be working with Bible Bee and you will see it incorporated into our magazines next year. To learn more about Bible Bee, click here.

We are looking forward to Fall 2009 with a great sense of anticipation as we endeavor to bring you and your students a useful, educational, and encouraging product each month in print and continuously on GWNews.com.
